The Wall Street West region is a ten-county area with a combined population in excess of 1.7 million, spread over approximately 5,189 square miles. It is home to more than 25 colleges and universities, as well as numerous corporations including Bank of America, Sallie Mae, Wachovia Bank, Guardian Life Insurance Company of America and Sovereign Bancorp. More than 25,000 residents are employed within the financial services and insurance industries in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The region is ideally situated within a 500-mile radius of nearly one third the population of the entire nation. Major cities like Philadelphia and New York are just two hours away.

The area enjoys easy access to eight major interstate highways (76, 78, 80, 81, 84, 176, 380, 476) and boasts two international airports, as well as several regional airports.

Pennsylvania boasts a top public school network, and recently the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has begun work to ensure that every public school is connected to Internet2.

Northeastern Pennsylvania:

  • Has received a $15 million commttment from the U.S. Department of Labor for workforce developoment; 
  • Meets federal regulatory agency recommendations for data back-up and back office facilities; 
  • Is centrally located with easy access to New York City, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.; 
  • Supplies a well-developed telecommunications infrastructure;
  • Offers moderate operating costs, specifically for labor and real estate;
  • Boasts affordable energy costs;
  • Has wide availability of open commercial sites and industrial parks;
  • Furnishes substantial tax incentives for businesses;
  • Contains more than 20 major employers in the financial services and insurance industries that employ more than 25,000 people;
  • Includes 21 four-year colleges and 6 two-year colleges;
  • Provides lower cost of living and greater quality-of-life.
